Sony RX100 VII
The Sony RX100 VII is a 302 g 1-inch compact with a 24–200 mm F2.8–4.5 zoom, a pop-up EVF, and Micro USB. No built-in ND.
Worth it if
- You want 24–200 mm, Eye AF, and an EVF in a pocket, and you will live with F4.5 at the long end and Micro USB.
Skip it if
- You need f/1.8, USB-C, or a grip. That is closer to the G7 X Mark III.

Questions
Does the Sony RX100 VII have a viewfinder?
Yes. A pop-up 0.39-type OLED, 2.36 million dots. The G7 X Mark III and the GR IIIx have none built in. That is the outdoor-framing difference.
Can I charge it from USB while shooting?
Yes, over Micro USB, including during shooting and playback. It is not USB-C. The supplied cable is Micro USB.
Does it have a built-in ND filter?
No. The G7 X Mark III has a 3-stop ND. The GR IIIx has a 2-stop ND. On the RX100 VII you live with F2.8–4.5 and shutter speed.
What is the CIPA battery life?
About 260 shots on the LCD, 240 on the EVF. Movie actual is listed around 40 minutes. Carry a spare NP-BX1 if the day is long.
